Views and principles

I have decided to run for the Chișinău Municipal Council because thirty years of school have taught me one simple thing: education's problems are not solved from the staff room, but where budgets are voted on.

I am a Chișinău native. I was born here, studied here, and have been teaching here for three decades. I started as a Romanian language teacher, became deputy principal, and since 2008 I have been running a high school in the city centre. I know school from the inside — with all its strengths and all its pains.

If you elect me, I will fight for concrete things: easing overcrowding in the city-centre schools — no child should study in three shifts; real inclusive education, with resources, not just on paper; a psychological support service in every school, because our pupils need someone who listens to them.

This candidacy is not about office — it is about responsibility. Together we can make the school in Chișinău a place children want to come to, not want to leave.

Career analysis

Gabriela Zabolotnîi's career confirms, step by step, the qualities a voters' representative needs.

She started "from the bottom": as a teacher she learned the trade in real classrooms — with pupils, with parents, with problems that textbooks cannot solve. That stage taught her what real school is: not the kind from reports, but the kind with worn desks, tired children and teachers who work wonders out of little.

As deputy principal she learned to organise people and processes, to manage conflicts and to make difficult decisions. School does not forgive improvisation: every wrong decision shows in children's eyes, and that rigour made her a woman of deeds, not words.

Since 2008 she has been running a high school — nearly two decades of management in an underfunded public system. Experience in administering budgets, staff and expectations is exactly the kind of schooling a municipal councillor needs.

Finally, her choice to stay three decades in the education of her native city — instead of seeking a more comfortable career — proves her bond with the territory she seeks to represent. She is not running "for" Chișinău from somewhere outside: she is running from its very midst.
