Views and principles

I have decided to run for the Durlești Local Council because our town is being built on paper, without asking the people who live in it. For twenty years I have been drawing houses and buildings, and now I want a say in what kind of town those buildings make.

I have lived in Durlești for as long as I can remember. I have watched my neighbourhood grow chaotically: apartment blocks squeezed between private houses, streets full of cars parked on pavements, courtyards with no greenery, and children playing between fences. Every building permit issued without a serious urban plan means a Durlești that is harder to live in.

As a design engineer I know exactly where the process breaks down: there is no up-to-date general urban plan, buildings get approved without green spaces or parking, and they do not even meet energy-efficiency standards. If you elect me, I will push for a real urban plan for Durlești, with public debates before any major project; support programmes for insulating old blocks; and parks and playgrounds in every neighbourhood — not on paper, but for real.

This candidacy is not about office — it is about responsibility. Together we can make Durlești a town built for people, not for quick profits.

Career analysis

Corina Zmeu's career confirms, step by step, the qualities a voters' representative needs.

She started as a technical draftswoman, at the drawing board, where she learned the rigour of documentation: in design, one wrong line costs money and endangers lives. That discipline of deeds, not promises, has accompanied her throughout her career.

As a design engineer she took projects from sketch to final acceptance — with clients, builders, experts and authorities around the same table. She knows how to negotiate, how to meet deadlines and budgets, and how to get permits in a bureaucratic system.

Since 2015 she has led a design team: managing people, deadlines, and bearing responsibility with her own signature on technical documentation. Management experience in a field with direct legal liability is exactly the schooling a local councillor needs.

Finally, her choice to live and design for Durlești — her native suburb — proves she is not running "from the sidelines": the problems she raises are the ones she lives with every day, as a mother and as a professional.
