Profira Braga was born on 8 April 1962 in the village of Bozieni, Hîncești district, into a peasant family. After graduating from medical college she joined the Hîncești District Hospital, where she works to this day.

I have decided to run for the Hîncești District Council because I have helped bring thousands of this district's children into the world — and I want every one of them to be born in humane conditions, not by luck.

I was born in the village of Bozieni, and for over forty years I have worked in the maternity ward: I started as a nurse in 1982, became head nurse, and since 1995 I have been a midwife. There is no family in Hîncești that has not passed through our hands — and there is no greater joy than the first cry of a healthy child.

Every day I see the same problems: wards that have not seen a repair in decades, ageing equipment, and pregnant women from the villages arriving at the maternity ward too late — because nobody followed their pregnancy. That is why I will fight for concrete things: renovating and equipping the Hîncești maternity ward; a real programme of pregnancy home visits in the villages, so that no woman gives birth unsupervised; a school for young mothers — free of charge and in every locality.

A midwife knows that a safe birth is not luck — it is the result of care, of timely visits, and of decent conditions.

This candidacy is not about office — it is about responsibility. Together we can make sure every child in Hîncești comes into the world safely.

Finally, her choice to stay in Hîncești for over forty years — instead of leaving for a clinic in Chișinău — proves her bond with the people she seeks to represent. She is not running "for" Hîncești from somewhere outside: she is running from its very midst.
