Views and principles

I have decided to run for the Drochia District Council because safety is not a word from reports — it is the feeling with which people lock their front doors at night.

I was born and have lived all my life in Drochia. For thirty years I was a police officer: seven years as a beat officer among the people, eight as a sector chief, sixteen as deputy head of the Drochia Police Inspectorate. I know every street in this town, and I know what it means for an ordinary person to feel safe.

Today I see problems I can no longer solve on my own. Drochia's neighbourhoods have no video surveillance system, patrols never reach the side streets, and the spirit of good neighbourliness has thinned, because the community's watchful eye is gone. I propose: a municipal video surveillance system for public spaces, the revival of volunteer patrols — joint patrols of police and citizens — and a clear plan for responding to residents' reports.

This candidacy is not about office — it is about responsibility. Safety starts with us: with every courtyard and every street. Together we can build it.

Career analysis

Pantelei Croitoru's career confirms, step by step, the qualities a voters' representative needs.

He started "from the bottom": as a beat officer he worked among the people, knew the residents of his sector by sight, and dealt with neighbourhood disputes and petty theft. That stage taught him a police officer's main quality — listening to people and arriving first where help is needed.

As a sector chief he learned to organise people and coordinate patrols. Responsibility for an entire territory taught him to plan and to answer for results — a skill a commander and a councillor need in equal measure.

Sixteen years as deputy head of the inspectorate represent a top-level management school: public-order plans, budgets, cooperation with mayoralties and the district council. He knows the administrative machine from the inside.

In 2018 he retired, but he did not retire from community life: as a community adviser on security he helps neighbours organise courtyard watch and consults mayoralties on security matters.

Finally, he was born in Drochia and spent thirty years keeping order in his home district. He is not running "for" Drochia from somewhere outside — he is running from the midst of the town he knows like the back of his hand.
