Views and principles

I have decided to run for the Ungheni District Council because I know what it means to grow an apple — and what it means to have no one to sell it to. I am an orchard farmer: I have a 60-hectare orchard, apples and plums, and my own cold storage.

I was born in the Ungheni district. After studying horticulture at the Agrarian University I worked as an agronomist, then leased my first 20 hectares of orchard. My orchard stands on the land of my native village.

I live orchard farmers' problems on my own skin: fruit spoils because there is not enough cold storage; prices are dictated by middlemen; subsidies for new orchards arrive slowly and wrapped in bureaucracy; without irrigation, a dry year means bankruptcy.

If you elect me, I will fight for concrete things: support for collective cold-storage facilities in the district; direct access for producers to markets and fairs, with no middlemen; simplified subsidies for planting new orchards; irrigation programmes for the district's orchard zones.

This candidacy is not about office — it is about responsibility. Together we can make the orchard farmer's work rewarded, not punished.

Career analysis

Ion Grecu's career confirms, step by step, the qualities a voters' representative needs.

As an agronomist he learned the science of the land: soils, varieties, treatments. That stage gave him the professional foundation on which he built everything.

As a lessee he learned entrepreneurial risk: he started from zero, with 20 leased hectares. He bet on himself — and won; a school of courage and responsibility for one's own decisions.

As the owner of the orchard farm he manages people, investments and sales. He built his own cold-storage facility — proof that he thinks long-term, not from one season to the next. That is the real economy, not theory.

Finally, his orchard stands on the land of his native village. Roots cannot be invented: Ion Grecu does not talk about farming — he lives it, and that is exactly why he can represent farmers.
